Reviews Overview

Most Liked

One of the biggest draws at The Eating House is the hearty, homemade food that evokes nostalgia, drawing in crowds for its comforting dishes. Customers rave about the generous portions and honest pricing, often linking their visits to fond memories. Many appreciate the great selection of teas available, which pairs perfectly with a variety of delightful traditional desserts like homemade apple crumble. The cafe's welcoming atmosphere creates a space where patrons feel at ease, fostering a sense of community that’s hard to find in larger establishments.

Most Disliked

While The Eating House is a beloved local spot, some diners mention the cash-only policy as a drawback. This requires guests to plan ahead and have cash on hand, which can be inconvenient. There’s also feedback regarding the limited vegetarian breakfast options on the menu, although staff are willing to accommodate requests when possible. A few occasional diners have noted busier times on weekends, which can affect service speed, but the warmth of the staff often makes up for any delays. Overall, these minor issues do not overshadow the cafe's charm and quality.

This is a cash only cafe. They did not have a vegetarian breakfast option on the menu, but were very happy to modify and help create a lovely dish.

Came here today for the first time. Me and my mate both got liver and onion with spuds and veg. It was excellent with loads of veg. Broccoli carrots sprouts peas cabbage. I'll definitely be returning again. Liver and onions was very good. My mate was also very impressed with the meal and the price. I'll try something else next time. Also the coffee was very good.

Came across this family-run café on a day out to Fleetwood Market. Just across the road from the market entrance, it looked small and unassuming on the outside, but inside it was homely and inviting, with comfortable chairs and some lovely decorative plaques and pictures of bygone Fleetwood on the walls. It was also very clean. The lady who served me (Carol I believe her name is) was so cheerful, chatty and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble for her. The café is obviously a favourite with locals, who go there regularly for lunch (always a good sign!). The extensive menu (displayed under glass on the tables) includes breakfasts, sandwiches, toasties, jacket potatoes, and good old-fashioned cooked dinners. They also do pensioners' specials. I ordered the liver and onions with potatoes and veg. It was cooked to perfection, with ample portions. Both food and plate were hot. No fewer than six different vegetables on the plate, and lovely rich gravy. The pot of tea was nice and hot. They also do a great selection of traditional puddings and ice-cream. Tried their homemade apple crumble with custard, and it was really good! Delicious strong coffee to finish. Payment was cash only. At £15.10 for the entire meal, including drinks, it was excellent value for money. If you're looking for good traditional homemade food and warm, friendly hospitality, you can't go wrong here. Would definitely come again.
